that it is hard to know just what we need. We now have the Pentium
IV processor, CD Drives, CD burners, DVD, DVD burners, Video Capture, multiple
storage drives, DDRAM, and so much more that I has become difficult to
choose. I have been working with computers since the days of 8088
and I know the need for continued to study and training a seasoned technician
needs.
The popularity of the Internet
has brought another concern, attacks from viruses, hackers, spy ware, and
ad ware. Viruses like to get in and mess with the proper operation,
while hackers and spy ware try to get information off computers, and those
annoying ad that pop up can cause major trouble as well. We recommend
that you get a good anti virus program such as Norton's or Mcaffé's
anti-virus to protest your computer from virus attacks, a good software
to detect and remove the spy ware and ad ware is recommended as well, we
use SPY HUNTER. We will assist you in the right choice for your needs.
Last, but definitely not least is
the importance of proper maintenance of your computer. Our recommendation
is that it be done once a week or you may have serious troubles down the
road. To do maintenance you need to start with disk clean up If we
set it just click the ok buttons as they appear we have taken care of all
settings, however you may want to review the first time so if anything
changes you can return it the settings. If we did not set up you
computer, please review the setting and make the proper choices.
Remember this will remove thing from your computer permanently so make
your choices carefully. Windows 95/98/ME
You now need to run scan disk
on all hard drives and partitions on your computer. There is a widow
at the top of scan disk that will show all the drives on the computer you
need to run scan disk on each of these drives.
After scan disk is completed
you need to run disk defragmenter. The file system on the computer
works very similar to a file cabinet in you home some times we might put
papers in the wrong folder, so at a later date we return discover this
error and correct it. Defragmenter works in much the same way and
should be performed on all drives. It is much easier as the scroll
window on defragmenter has a choice to do all physical drive, choose this
and begin the defragmentation. Please not with the use of the larger
hard drives, and this may take awhile.
Windows XP
You will need to run disk defragmenter. In windows
Xp Scan and Disk Defragmenter are one program and work together.
As in the earlier versions of windows this defragmenter has the choice
to do all physical hard drives, please choose this and then click ok, remember
this process can take some time to complete.
